Erica Roozendaal – accordion

Erica was interested in music from an early age: she loved to compose and has been playing the accordion since she was eight years old. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in accordion and bandoneon in the Netherlands, she moved to Copenhagen to focus fully on the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in classical accordion, with the renowned teacher James Crabb. She then took a second master’s course with Frode Haltli in Oslo.

Erica has a broad musical interest: besides folk music she also focuses on contemporary music and she works a lot with (young) composers. She also performs regularly as a soloist and since 2015 Erica is artistic director of the festival “The Accordion”. She has performed with ensembles such as LUDWIG, Camerata RCO and the New Ensemble. She has been involved with VICO, Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra, since 2015. Erica is connected to the Royal Conservatoire as a PI teacher: music lessons for the little ones.
